about us 1Are your teeth are strangely shaped, chipped, have changed the color? Are you are not satisfied with the spacing between your teeth?  Maybe veneers are the best solution for you. Before you decide if the procedure is the right solution, it's important to have the right information about veneers, their cost and how best to care for them.

Veneers are ultra-thin aesthetic restoration that require minimal teeth grinding. Veneers have minimal thickness of 0.3 – 0.5 mm, which is similar to the thickness of finger nail. Also, they are some what translucent which allows them to imitate enamel in order to achieve natural looking and beautiful smile.

If you are considering veneers as an option, you will need 2 visits. At first appointment, after consultation, we will take the impressions of upper and lower jaw, bite registration and several photos of your teeth and send it to dental technician. The tooth preparation requires just the preparation in enamel, so you can be sure that your teeth are strong and healthy underneath the veneers. The process is completely pain free.

On your next visit, we will place your veneers. Before final bonding,  Dr. Shaheen DDS will try them on to ensure a good fit. The veneer is then etched, rinsed thoroughly with water and air dried. The cement for this type of bonding (adhesive bonding) comes in different shades of white to ensure the perfect aesthetic look. After putting the cement, the veneer is light cured for 60 seconds on all surfaces of it to attach it to the tooth structure. Any excess material is removed and the margins of the veneer are polished. It's possible that you feel slight discomfort during bonding process as a result of dry mouth. The bonding requires completely dry working field so your mouth can become dry.

It’s important to know that it's possible to get a tooth decay with veneers. Although the material itself can't decay, any part that isn't covered with veneer can still get a cavity. The good news is that this type of cavity is easy to fix, even without taking off the veneer, if detected early. In case of profound cavity, the veneer must be taken off to repair the tooth. The process is not reversible – you will need new veneer or even a crown if the tooth is too damaged, so brush and floss your teeth regularly.

We will schedule a follow-up visit to check for comfort; a comfortable veneer will be a long-lasting veneer.

If you're deciding on veneers, consult with Shaheen Family Dental and be sure you understand every part of the process and cost. A beautiful smile feels great and can increase both your confidence and well-being.
